Yoga is for everyone ….journeying towards living an awakened and joyful life

Yoga is not just a physical practice…..it offers the pathway to health, happiness and compassion. Yoga is about awakening to a higher intelligence and finding your way back to your true essence. It allows us to shed the restriction of the ego and to let go of deep rooted habits and behaviour that leaves us stuck in repetitive destructive thought patterns and behaviour.  And it starts with one simple decision to commit. Commit to taking responsibility for your health and your happiness.

This is the decision I made, and make everyday as I try and live a conscious, creative and compassionate life. Whether it is through my actions, words or thoughts, each day I try and live in harmony and union with the Universal Energy that connects us all together.

What keeps life fascinating is the constant creativity of the soul.

And I am here to help you when you have made that decision. Whether you decide to dip your big toe in or to take a huge step onto the path of Yoga…..I am here to guide you on your journey.

Most yoga centres and teachers offer only instruction in yoga postures and breathing exercises, with an occasional mention of meditation. However the goal of yoga is unity and the gaining control over the modifications and negativity of mind.

In his classic work the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali known as the father of yoga, describes yoga as “the progressive quieting of the fluctuations of the mind.” He then explains that through dedicated practice and the cultivation of detachment, we will stop identifying with the thoughts, feelings, and sensations that can cause us so much emotional pain, and we will open to an experience of our true self.

But I believe that we must go even deeper than this, and strive to live in harmony with the rhythm of nature to truly achieve the unity of mind body and spirit, because the unity is universal and the rhythm of our health is dependent on the health of all that surrounds us.

A Yogic Lifestyle

Yoga practices such as meditation enable us to watch our minds think, to realize that we must be more than the mind, if we can sit back and watch it generate thoughts. This is the power of the practices…they show rather than tell us.

Tools such as a clean compassionate healthy diet, sound therapy, creativity, social interaction, time spent outdoors  and healing therapies such as massage, are all valuable parts of a committing to a healthier Yogic Lifestyle….one that gives you the opportunity to reduce stress, reduce inflammation and pain and develop a more fulfilling positive connected life.
